so the holiday rush officially begins with 'black friday'.  since i am simply not brave enough to consider venturing out, i plan to stay home and contemplate flooring options for our someday bathroom remodel. wishing you a happy weekend - be brave!

there isn't much of a hint of thanksgiving here, though i'm swirling in thoughts of planning for the big feast. i'm too eager to feed my green thoughts with what inspires me botanically speaking. one of my green thoughts inspired me to make the olive wreath hanging below and in my shop.

i recently attended a paper garland workshop which was such a fun way to kick off the start of the holiday season.  string lights, banners, bunting and the like always make me smile and while they are usually reserved for holidays and celebrations, the endless possibilities of using fabric, paper, botanicals, lights, etc makes it easy to include a little festive whimsy in your every day. a very happy weekend to you and yours.

autumn days cast soft subdued yet intense light in contrast with striking patches of changing landscape which makes blue, especially denim blue and indigo, bounce off all that so beautifully. the textures and colors are so compatible. an almost square denim drop necklace dangles below and in the shop. the tiny piece of denim was laying around my project table nearby a cut off thread end of linen. i piled the cast off linen on top of the denim and embraced the combination. more denim, linen pairings to follow - eventually.

the return to standard time (or the 'plunge into darkness' as my husband humorously describes autumn and the end of daylight saving time) has me thinking about lighting around the house and yard and ways to create more functional as well as cozy spaces. wishing you a cozy weekend.
